How should I store my NOW® supplements?
To maintain the highest quality and potency of our products, proper storage is essential. While specific instructions vary by product, follow these general guidelines:
1. The "Cool, Dry, Dark" Rule
Most supplements should be stored in a cool, dry place (ideally between 60°F and 80°F).
Avoid the Kitchen: Humidity from cooking and heat from the stove can degrade vitamins.
Avoid the Bathroom: High humidity from showers can cause capsules to stick together or "melt."
2. Does this product need refrigeration?
Most NOW® products are shelf-stable at room temperature. However, certain items do require refrigeration to maintain their biological activity:
Probiotics: Refer to the label; many of our high-potency probiotics require refrigeration after opening.
Liquid Oils: Flax Seed Oil and certain liquid supplements should be refrigerated to prevent oxidation (rancidity).
Softgels: In extreme heat, softgels may clump. Storing them in a cool, dry place—or occasionally the refrigerator—can help.
3. Understanding Expiration Dates
You will find a "Best By" or "Exp" date printed on the side of the bottle or the bottom of the packaging.
We do not recommend consuming products past this date, as we cannot guarantee full potency.
Lot Numbers: If you have a question about a specific bottle, please have the 7-digit Lot Number ready when contacting us.
